Maybe the accident at Pine Junction?

That was 3 hours earlier. Hard to believe it was backing up traffic all the way to 470 at 6 pm.

There was another accident this evening. My husband saw the car wreck mere minutes after it had happened. I surely hope everyone involved is okay. Between the fire and the accidents our poor responders have been so busy!

A lot of the blame for 285 problems is on CDOT for not doing what was promised 12 years ago about extending the 4 lane to Baily. CDOT doesn't care about us. The state of all our roads shows that. They spend our money but not on what it should be spent on...our roads!

That argument does not support all the accidents on the 4 lane stretch of 285 from Morrison to Conifer. There are so many accidents that simply involve bad driving, either speeding or inattention.

Second that, wxgeek. Blaming the roads for accidents is largely an attempt at deflecting from the primary cause, which is a combination of drivers' average incompetence and distraction level.

Agree with wxgeek. There have been so many crashes of late. Pay attention and drive carefully. It is insane out there.

One thing I have noticed more and more is the speed delta between the right and left-hand lanes. It seems like the right-hand lane is pretty consistent at 55-60 MPH and the left-hand lane is now anywhere from 65-80 MPH. This is where a third lane would really help with the delta as it does on larger highways. Add a slow going truck at 30 MPH and you have a mess. I think drivers have an unrealistic expectation to be able to go 80 MPH in the left-hand lane. They sit on your tail until you get over because you do not want to go that fast but maybe trying to pass someone who is going slow in the right-hand lane. Not sure what the solution is here, but folks need to calm down as 285 is a very dangerous road now with all the increased traffic.

We do not need a third lane but we do need TWO lanes at least to Bailey.

I also have ZERO pity for people wanting to go 80 MPH in the left lane - or any other lane. If they are tailgating me because I'm passing other slower traffic and I'm ONLY going 60-65 then I note their plate and report them to *CSP as soon as safely possible.
