Tips/Suggestions
 1. When you prepare a box or bag for drop-off, you should identify the item with your Pinecam screen name. Although the soldiers will know it came from Pinecam, your screen name on the item may trigger a correspondence with this soldier ? and after all, that?s one of our main goals and is one of their main desires.
 2. Try to contribute products that are individually wrapped to assist in the distribution of the items.
 3. You might consider creating variety packs containing a number of items a typical individual might use. And if you wish to establish contact with some of these folks, don?t forget to place a note or a card stating your screen name.

Click here for current drop-off locations or you may contact the committee at tsac@pinecam.com for special arrangements.

As each shipment is being arranged, specific items needed for that shipment will be identified in the topic announcing the shipment along with deadline dates for donations. However, item donations may be made at any time and will be accumulated until the next shipment is scheduled.

As always, your generosity is greatly appreciated.

If you have any questions about contributing items, please contact the committee at tsac@pinecam.com

Bubbles,
I probably responded to the wrong thread. Just wanted you to know that I dropped off a bag of stuff for the troops in Afghanistan, to be picked up on Saturday at the Conifer Safeway. I'm sorry that I'll miss meeting you, but I'm sure there will be more opportunities later on. Please let me know that you got it, thanks.
I did label it with my "anonamom" name, thanks again for organizing this wonderful program.

just a note... Hubby sat beside a soldier, home on leave for 2 weeks, flying from Denver to Lincoln.

He started up a conversation & the guy said that snacks - things like beef jerky, etc - are great because inevitably they will have to go on patrol & miss a meal. So anything that's packaged so they can "grab & go" is great!

Just thought you'd like to know this... We thought it was very interesting...

The list looks wonderful. The shave gel, especially for the guys is a hot item. I have seen some of the males in the PX have to buy female shave gel because they are wiped out as soon as they get it on the shelf. They tuck it away so their buddy doesn't make fun of them. Current magazines are the best. When you go to look for the popular magazines they are gone, there isn't a whole lot of female magazines left that I am interested in. For ex. good housekeeping, craft magazines, country women, shape, women's health things like that for example. They have cosmopolitan which our younger female likes. The same goes for the men too I have noticed. Another thing would be sheet sets, twin size. You can buy some here but in some cases it is hit and miss, other wise you can buy one sheet and a pillow case for $18 so that is expensive.
Thank you again.

We have beds to sleep in which most don't have, they sleep on cots. My friend and boyfriend all slept on cots when the war first started. This is a wonderful treat for us. The govt. has issued us sleeping bags, but I feel to actually sleep in sheets makes our stay here a little more comfortable. The shave gel you have to buy at the PX, the govt. includes extra $ in our checks to purchase these items but it is really hard to find. The PX is our only source besides our family and support back home where we are at. There are alot of soldiers here so when the shipment gets in it is wiped off the shelf because of the demand for it.

Thanks for the update, Nicholette. Most of us are clueless about the conditions you all deal with, and it's good to get correct information.

And it's always good to hear from you. :waving:

I have (2) cell phones that we no longer use. They work but are not new models.

Do you still need phones donated? Not sure if just a phone without a plan works for them?

Thanks!

We no longer ask for phone cards for the troops because they have communication opportunities provided that don't take the phone cards. As far as cell phones, we've never sent those - not sure if they would work over there or not.

However, in the past Mtn. Peace Shelter has requested old cell phones and I'm sure Lynn or Kathy could advise you. You can contact them by pm here http://www.pinecam.com/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?t=42574 or give them a call at 303-838-7176.
