I guess that a Governmental question is only a political question if it contains any statements that Keg concedes as such. Kegs behavior here is not helping anyone one whit.
To paraphrase Kegs actions on this Forum: If a car is following me and I think he is making me go too fast I'll slam on my breaks and blame them for wrecking into the back of me.

Oopsie! Another defection from the Obama camp:

"The chief of U.S. Border Patrol during Barack Obama's presidency, Mark Morgan, joined Glenn Beck on Thursday's show to refute the leftist rhetoric that walls are 'ineffective' and that President Donald Trump manufactured the crisis at the U.S.-Mexico border."

"Mark explained that he initially believed those on the left were 'unintentionally misinforming people,' but over the years has reluctantly come to the conclusion that there is 'intent behind the distortion of the facts.'"

That's my thoughts exactly! I know the cost of living is high in Colorado, but everyone
should have an emergency fund. Just in case of something like this. We went thru a
class that taught us this. https://www.daveramsey.com/blog/4-quick ... gency-fund
Basically put 3-6 months of money in a savings account, enough to cover the monthly bills.

My thoughts exactly. But was afraid to say it. Maybe they need to spend what they have more wisely.

There are a whole lot of non-Gov workers living in the exact same manner. A shutdown of a major commercial employer would have much the same effect, although much more localized.

gsellers, it's a good idea. I would caution, think about how long it would take for someone fresh out of college to sock away 3-6 months worth of monthly expenses in a savings account - assume student loans to pay back.

We sure could! Reagan wouldn't be stopped by congress not approving funding. He found other ways to raise money!

Regan? I was in high school, so he was a good example that I remember.

Yep, googled it, Regan has the record for most shutdowns. Eight times!

Ah, but the difference is that most of those eight shutdowns were three days, and the longest was five. No one went an entire pay period without receiving a check. Reagan was able to negotiate with the Democrats diplomatically. There is no diplomacy in Washington on either side right now.

But the big difference is that just a few years ago Schumer and Pelosi (among others) were for a wall and outspoken against illegal immigration. Suddenly those are ideas that are repulsive to them. Why? Because Trump is president. That's it. It's politics and the democrats own this shutdown and the misery it's causing to some.

May I suggest another perspective - The Dems were/are always wanting power and gaining through creating an underclass that will vote for them. When Dems wanted walls, they were not worried that it would actually happen. Trump tries harder than previous presidents to follow through on promises. As a result the wall will get built. The Dems now show they never did want a wall to block potential Dem voters. If there is no underclass, the Dems will lose.
