Are all changers players? Any info is more than I know about stereos.

A CD changer just means a device that you can load more than one CD into - and play them. These were hot in the late 1980's!
There are two type - circular and magazine. The circular ones you could generally load 5 CD's in at once when you hit "eject" and a platter came out about a foot in diameter with room to insert the 5 CD's around the perimeter. The magazine type you load anywhere from about 5 to as many as 20 or so(!) They fit in one or two square boxes that you load the CDs into and then insert the box into the changer. These were the types that were sometimes put in cars as well as a magazine of 5 CD's didn't take up much room.
With either type there usually were options to just play them all forever, randomly shuffle disks or even particular songs.

A CD player is just that - a smaller device that plays just one CD. It was sold usually as part of a boom pox or a portable player.

Ah - those were the days. I STILL like to play CD's in the car (especially books on disk) and I STILL have one of those players you put under your kitchen cabinet. It still works great after more than 20 years.

Cd changer will load and read discs, but some were only accessories to a larger stereo system. That means they could lack an amp. They would send the audio signal, via cable(s), to the main stereo unit for actual playback over speakers.

And here I thought that I was the only one left still spinning CDs in my car. I'm glad to hear that I have company.

I still put CDs on my Christmas list every year … I'm currently playing my compilation set of Jethro Tull that I got this year.

With the invention of compression, music is now sold in digital format. It is still almost always recorded in analog. An audiophile decries digital music due to compression. Something is always lost. Music on CD is fantastic compared to overly compressed mp3 files that usually stream under 256kb. I still buy and love CDs for this reason. Yes OP go ahead and post a model number and post what your goals are. I can help you determine if additional hardware would be needed for playback.

On a side note, I was SHOCKED with the difference in sound quality when I recently compared a vinyl record song (analog recording) with the same song from a CD (digital recording). Unless you can compare side-by-side you don't realize the differences.

Yes, I have all that equipment to be able to play most any format. Really an eye opener.
