A neighbor told me she was going to build an owl house. When I looked in my Colorado bird book (may be outdated) there were only 2 types of owls listed - and neither would seem to be attracted to an owl house. The book said they either take over existing tree nests or their habitat is on the ground. I would love to attract some owls - maybe there are other ways.

Neighbors have one. I’ll ask if they have had owls in it

We tried Owl Boxes for a few years, the problem we had was that the squirrels would move in.

Also - we tried to attract bats by putting up a bat box but paper wasps moved in!

This past summer was the first time in decades our bat boxes weren't used by bats.

We had an Owl Box installed last spring. It is still vacant. I'm surprised we haven't at least had a squirrel move in.
