03/10/2004: "U.S. appeal seeks Hayman restitution"

U.S. Attorney John Suthers on Tuesday challenged Senior U.S. District Judge Richard Matsch's sense of "moral judgment" for failing to make Terry Barton pay any restitution for starting the Hayman forest fire two years ago.

Suthers made an infrequent personal appearance Tuesday when he argued the government's appeal of the Barton case before a three-judge panel in the U.S. 10th Circuit Court of Appeals. Full Story
