Mountain lovers may find it harder to build in Jeffco
GOLDEN, Colo. -- Building a house in the Rocky Mountain foothills of Jefferson County soon could include an extra requirement: prove there's a sufficient water supply.

County commissioners agreed on Wednesday to ask three experts to develop criteria to ensure that any construction in the "Precambrian rock area" of the county, generally the area above 6,400 feet elevation, has enough water.

Extreme fire danger this fall
SUMMIT COUNTY - An especially dry autumn has resulted in extremely high wildfire danger levels in Summit County and across Colorado.

"We've go a lot of dead leaves and light fuels out there, so it won't take much to start a fire that could get out of control," said Capt. Mike Rutherford of the Red, White and Blue Fire Department. "As long as there's no wind, fires in the approved campfire rings should be OK."

Jeffco Teacher Suspended Over Outdoor Lab Incident
The Clear Creek County Sheriff’s Office is investigating an alleged assault that occurred at the Jefferson County Outdoor Lab at 201 Evans Ranch Road. The incident occurred on Oct. 16, and involves two victims, both twelve years of age, and a teacher.
