Preparation Time: 1/2 hour or so
Difficulty: Easy Print
1 lb. ground beef 1 small onion black pepper to taste garlic salt to taste 1 can mushrooms (7 oz.) 1 can Cambells Cream of Mushroom Soup 8 oz. sour cream
~1 1/2 cup flat noodles or how ever much you want to use water to cover noodles
Stroganoff Add the ground beef to a frying pan. Slice the onion into the frying pan. Cook over a medium fire until the ground beef is browned and the onion is tender. You wany the ground beef to be quite browned and somewhat darkened as this adds a lot of flavor.
Drain the mushrooms and add to the ground beef mixture. Add the pepper and garlic salt and mix well. Cook for a few minutes over a low fire.
Add the mushroom soup and mix in well. Cook for 5 to 10 minutes over a low fire with the stroganoff bubbling some. You want the soup and ground beef mixture to really meld their flavors. Stir now and then.
Add the sour cream and mix in well. Cook over a very low fire until the mixture bubbles some. Stir now and then.
Serve over the cooked flat noodles.
Noodles You can cook the flat noodles two ways. One way is to bring enough water to cover the noodles to boil, add some salt, and cook the noodles until they're done. If you use this method over the campfire, be sure to start the water to heating over the fire before you start the stroganoff as water takes a long time to get to boiling. Time putting the noodles into the boiling water just before you add the sour cream to the stroganoff.
Or, you can add the dry noodles to the stroganoff as you add the sour cream and cook the stroganoff over a low fire until the noodles are tender. If you use this method, add the liquid from the canned mushrooms to the stroganoff.
