1 3/4 cups flour 1 tsp salt 1 stick cold butter, cut up 3 Tb shortening (I used lard, no we don't eat this every day!)
Blend above ingredients in food processor till crumbly. Slowly add 1/4 cup of ice water and process till mixture forms a ball. Wrap in plastic wrap or wax paper and refrigerate at least 30 mins. When ready to roll, remove from the fridge at least 15 mins before so dough comes to room temp.
This was the easiest dough I have ever rolled out in 20 years up here, and very flaky! I have tried recipes that add vinegar, vodka and all kinds of stuff and they just made the dough tough.
