Does anybody do anything to help their trees get stronger like fertilize twice a year? I try to. I usually just sprinkle Miracle Grow pellets around trees close to the house even though it's not as not as much as they say to use. Today would have been a perfect time to do it.

Who else does this? What do you use?

I fertilize my apples trees with compost spring and fall. And then a commercial fruit tree fertilizer in the spring.

I've used tree spikes (various different brands) for transplanted trees.

But other than my 2 apples trees, I currently only have pine and aspen trees and neither need human intervention for nutrients.

But if I had non-native trees then I'd at least consider giving them some compost.

I was talking about the wild trees. I don't want to intervene, but if I can make them more resistant to problems, I want to.

I put down a couple of fertilizer spikes in a very small aspen grove that lies between my house and my neighbors house and it killed about 4-5 of the small trees, so be careful .....Maybe CSU has some good info on this topic.

I'm glad to know about that! Don't want anything like that.
