Along with the amazing amount of snow piling up, we are nearly overrun by a "cloud" of Rosy Finches!
Image
They are very difficult to catch a photo of them as JUST THINKING about the shot causes them to fly away with a "soft thunder" of wings flapping!

Here is a gaggle of them on a tray feeder mounted just below the sill of a south facing window.
Image
This is not much of a photo as I had to think about something bland (like the carpet) so they didn't fly off!

We are keeping the feeders filled as we have so many birds depending on us for this snowy blast!
We have Rosy Finches, Evening Grosbeaks, Hairy and Downy Woodpeckers, Juncos, Pine Siskins, Northern Flickers, and several Pygmy Nuthatches taking advantage of our feeding!
Awesome responsibility...

Well they just arrived at our home, and I cannot believe how many Pine Grosbeaks as well, we have all the birds you mentioned, we put out several suet blocks for the birds too.

our feeders and the carpeted covered deck floor are full of tweets. I toss out shelled sunflower seeds, shelled peanuts and suet balls onto the carpet. the ground feeders love it. I have suet cake feeders all over but I have discovered these guys and add them to the tray feeders, too

So beautiful. I've kept minimal amounts of food out this winter except for a cylinder of food that the woodpeckers love. I just filled the other birdfeeders yesterday so we will see what turns up. I DO have suet cages out though and I find it so odd that nobody has any interest in them. They are the cheap variety from the hardware store and they've been out a few weeks. It seems so odd there are no takers.

Wow that's impressive.

What a wonderful sanctuary you have provided for the birds!

I have a small flock of rosy headed something (I don't know the names of the different types of birds) that are living in a protected area under my deck. They have been there for months.

I don't know why they stay as I don't feed them. But I guess it makes them feel safe. Each morning when they come out to greet me, I tell them to go the BGRs if they want food.

I love this so much! I'm so jealous!

Angela, how many pounds is a bag of suet nuggets? They look great to add to my suet cakes. Also, which variety do you use?
