One thing that helps to differentiate between the finches is to notice if the tail is squared or notched. I rarely have house finches here, with the squared tail, but tons of cassin’s with a notched tail. The finches with yellow underneath could be pine siskins.

JMiller - sorry I still can’t see pictures. Have to go to Apple in town to copy old phone. It is so old the newer phone won’t copy off of it. Sad.

we have both ravens and crows - in the air, crows mostly flap whereas ravens soar more - but if crows and ravens are in the same skies, the crows are usually mobbing the raven -

Nice surprise - pine, evening & black-headed grosbeak families this week. Wish I had pics but they're skittish, rightly so with their striking colors. Some black-billed magpies & fluffy ravens showed up too. Seeing more red-breasted nuthatches lately.

We have a solid influx of Northern Flickers. Probably 3 breeding pairs in the hood for the duration. The first Mourning Dove - solitary :O( - stopped by last week. Occasional Robins but I think they are passing through. The regulars have places they like to sit and these Robins are different. Many varieties of song birds using the seed feeders various finches and Grosbeaks. We did have a Brewer's Blackbird here for quick snack. Took a bit to figure out he wasn't a Grackle.
I'll keep watching. Mrs. BGR |

The yard is in constant movement. It is mesmerizing how many different varieties of birds and fury four legged friends that are ALL in my yard at the same time. It is very interesting to see how the different breeds of birds have their own time at the feeders. I was surprised by 15 Robins all at the same time. I usually see one here or there at a glimpse. Nice to see them stick around for several days. Still wish I would see some of the colorful birds. Tons of the usual Red wings, Stellar Jays, Magpies, Crows, All the little ground feeding friends. Rabbits,Squirrels , chipmunks. Tried to get the Robin bunch. Might of got 3 in a couple pictures. Oh forgot about the Eagle perched on the power pole next door.
