There is this ad:

Bailey Depot Feed - Downsizing Clearance!

Quote:
Due to the need to downsize, we will be offering the feed pictured at the prices shown. These prices are at or below our cost. We will no longer be carrying feed for the larger animals and livestock. See or Featured Ad above or our posts on Facebook and Instagram for more info. Thanks!

Big R has a few different organic chicken feed choices.
I like Nutrena's "Nature Smart" Organic Layer Pellets. It is getting expensive (like everything else) but it is still under $1/lb.

Pine Country Feed Store has Purina's organic chicken feed and organic scratch.

I really like the Purina organic scratch as it is a variety of whole grains (except the corn portion is cracked corn). This blend is good to soak in water overnight and/or ferment and add it along side the layer pellets. Feeding chickens some fermented grains (ocassionally or daily) really helps their overall health as well as egg production.

After feeding a bit of fermented grains (almost daily) for a couple of months, my 6 yr old hen who had stopped laying the year before, started laying a few more eggs again!!!

I think the new(ish) feed store in Golden that you might have been referring to, is JL&B on Indiana.

Their website says that they carry "Scratch & Peck" chicken feeds! That is some of the best chicken feed on the market!! For years, that was my first choice in feed. Then it become hard to find locally. But now the cost has become ridiculous, reaching close to $2/lb.
