Omigosh! That is wonderful! Hope she is in good health and will be kept close.

Wow! That is such fantastic news!

I can't believe it's been 7 weeks.

I wanted to share this link created by one of the wonderful people I’ve been in contact with throughout these last 7 difficult weeks as we kept vigil for Nova.

If you can contribute any amount it would be a huge help. And if you are not in a position could you please share this info?
Thank you.
I want to personally thank Jeffco Animal Control and the park rangers at Meyer Ranch for the wonderful job they did bringing this poor frightened injured dog off the mountain.

More information

Update: Nova was sent home with her owner (Robynne) after her initial visit with the vet on Sunday night (11/19/23). She has lost a significant amount of weight and sustained a serious leg injury, which has been stabilized with a cast. Best case scenario is that an orthopedic vet will be able to save her leg but it may need to be amputated.

A GoFundMe has been set up to assist Robynne in covering vet bills. Additional information on Nova’s prognosis will be posted as it becomes available. Thank you to everyone for the continued support while Nova was missing and for welcoming her home with so many kind comments!
We are so thankful for all of those who have shared Nova's story, put up flyers, asked for updates over the last 7 weeks and worked tirelessly to bring her home.

This is the latest news on Nova from her owner:

“ Today
by Lorena Billig, Organizer
Update on Nova, from Robynne, 11/24/2023

After many calls to vets and orthopedic specialists and was told fixing her leg could cost over $15 thousand if not more, with multiple surgeries and no guarantee of it working, that she may still need it amputated. One Dr. called me to say the most humane thing to do for her would be to amputate and let her start healing. Also, after looking at the x-rays again, a friend noticed her paw was shattered too. So on Tuesday, she will have her front right leg amputated, and will spend one night in the clinic, returning home Wednesday. It shouldn't stop her for long, as she has been trying to go up and down stairs with her cast and even jumped on our bed when I wasn't looking. (Although it breaks my heart) She is still emaciated and that will take time. But the good news is she is back to her happy smiling self, although often checking on where I am.

I cannot impress to everyone how grateful I am for all your kindness and support. Thank you very very much from Nova and myself.

Robynne”

I know this was not an easy decision, but I agree it will be best all around. enduring all those surgeries in her condition would be very hard on her and she is just ready to be home, where she is safe, warm, with a full belly and love.

She will do just fine. She’s young and it’s a much simpler procedure.
One external incision to remove the entire shoulder and leg and some internal sutures to close the blood supply in the axillary cavity.
No pins, no plates, no screws, no cast changes.
My three legged cat Earl is a monkey. He does not miss his mangled broken leg that would not knit and developed a secondary infection which put him at risk of sepsis. He was a barn cat. He’s a happy sweet house cat now.

So less cost, better faster healing and an excellent prognosis.

Nova is on her way to being whole even if it’s on three legs.
