I picked up this kitty from some folks who found him in Shawnee, thinking he was my Murray, whom I hadn't seen in a while, but it turned out that it wasn't him.

I've been getting pretty attached to him, and he's even managed to tame my wild dog, who would not have been able to do this even a month ago without trying to eat a cat:

But there are signs that he has a family out there:

• he's castrated (no chip, though)
• he responds to shaking bags (knowing there are maybe treats in them)
• he knows there's something interesting inside refrigerators
• he's very affectionate with humans
• he's clearly very comfortable around dogs
• he's a little afraid of going outside
• he immediately knew how to use a litterbox

I've already reported him to the Intermountain Humane Society as a found pet, but I've gotten no traction there or on Nextdoor, so I figured I might post here, too.

If I don't hear back from anyone by the end of the month, or if he and my dog start snuggling, I'll take him to the vet, have him chipped, vaccinated, etc, and hope that Murray doesn't feel displaced when he returns!

Oh my GOODNESS! Those photos made my day! ADORABLE!!!! I had a very similar situation with a tuxedo kitty & my old dog. Still have Boogie the Cat, the dog passed away & now Boog has trained the new (formerly) cat-eating dog, Quigley.....and me. I was never a cat person, but Boogie decided he liked it here whether we liked it or not! My first kitty ever, & I love him to pieces now! They know a sucker when they see one, don't they? Hoping Original Murray comes home soon!
