Colorado is expected to have 8 districts as a result of the 2020 census.

Hopefully we can effect a map of our own choosing and Park County can be represented as a whole again.

Hopefully, but it's just as likely we will be further divided, in an effort to make the eight districts "competitive"!
I have little faith this new, nonpartisan commission will be anything but political, and the true concept of representative government will be nowhere near the top of anyone's priority list.

"The nonpartisan staff will consider comments from the commission and from the public when creating the preliminary redistricting plan."

Well, let's comment!

"(c) the redistricting commission should set district lines by ensuring constitutionally guaranteed voting rights, including the protection of minority group voting, as well as fair and effective representation of constituents using politically neutral criteria; "

There is no such thing as "nonpartisan staff"! They were hired by political hacks that were appointed by politicians. They are being tasked with following a law that requires them to make politically competitive districts, the whole concept is just wrong.
We should just give the population numbers and a Colorado road map to a class of sixth graders. They could do it as a math project. I'm positive we would have a better outcome!

Got a call from Colorado Representative Jim Wilson's office today. The wheels are turning.

Prepare to join the 2nd District if you don't speak up.

Those in this area are still in the 5th and very probably to be absorbed in the near future if they don't want to speak out with their neighbors now. The boundary is mostly defined by Highway 285 thereby dividing Bailey, Shawnee and separating all the communities in-between.

P.S. - Most of the fishing and a lot of wilderness is on the 2nd-side of 285. Anybody think Boulder and Fort Worth will have our interests in mind?
