Indeed G-BONC, it should actually extinguish most of the fires currently burning in CO which will be nice.

No, need to buy snow tires for the new car but it will stay in the garage and as I am retired don’t need to be out. Stay safe and drive carefully if you are out.

Im ready for tomorrow, got a load of groceries yesterday so I have yummy things to cook, chicken soup in the crockpot and green chili in the dutch oven.
Got wood up onto the porch, unhooked the hose, dug the snow shovel out of the black hole of Calcutta that is my storage shed.

Cant get the snow tires on for a couple weeks yet, but I don't have to travel tomorrow and Friday is pending.

Bring it! :snowflake: :snow report: :snowman:

Brought all the annuals into the kitchen - looks like a floral shop. I didn't want them to face the brutal cold snap, even though they won't last long. Filled up the wood rack in the mud room and got some kindling in. Hope everyone stays warm and safe!

Got my big new 40,000 BTU, three-sided glass, beautiful propane gas stove from Inglenook at the ready (replaced my 15-year old, congested, worn out, drab-looking pellet stove)! With a push of a button (versus weekly hauls of multiple 40-pound bags of pellets), my house will be toasty and warm for the Canadian blast. Yes!

:applause: :applause: wonderful! :applause: :applause:

This weather makes me so happy!

But I just realized I forgot the kitty litter to dust my pathway to the chicken coop. :thud:
So I took it extra easy to get out there this morning. The evening work may be trickier, but I'll manage.

I've used wood pellets, too.

Yep that would work! But never had any and I think kitty litter is probably cheaper.

I have pine shavings and straw (but they are just as far away or further, and messier to clean up afterwards). I'll be fine, no biggie. The coop is only ~25ft from the deck, but mostly on asphalt.

The point is, I'm quite surprised that I forgot it  I'm usually so very organized about things like that. And it wasn't even on my winterizing list, which seems weird (it is now, for future years).

Hope others remember to have something to improve traction to get to their critters or cars or greenhouse or whatever.

As I prepare to experience my first winter outside of Colorado in 22 years, I have to say I am most envious of all of you. I wish you much accumulation and a minimum of road woes.

Just think of this snow storm as a "practice winter storm" in preparation for the real thing in about a month or so. :coffee screen:

We still have time to do any tasks we forgot to do, items to stock up on or major prparation for winter storms folks have not had time to do yet. So in the meantime enjoy the snow. It is awful pretty out there with the changing Aspen trees coated under a blanket of snow. We don't get to see that very often.

I have 4 inches of snow so far with the temp at 10 degrees and chillie is cooking in the crock pot....
