Crazy, busy out there....
We were on Rosalie Road needing to go south. Ended up turning north to the light at Pine Junction to head south on 285. We will stay home for the remainder of the holiday weekend. We go into the woods to check on fires and trash but will say OFF of the highway.

On our way to the doggie doctor for puppy appointments around 10:30 AM, the traffic volume, heading south, was rather overwhelming considering the time of day for a Friday. We came back home via 74. The parking lots for all the parks along Hwy 74 were full. There were areas where cars were parked along the road (trying to be off the highway as much as possible). I've driven up 74 many times but have never, ever seen all the parks along the way so crowded before. Crazy....

From what I could see, the creek was quite full and the cascading waterfalls picturesque.

I know you have been here for a while ;) , but I would have turned around and gone back to 72. You would go right under 285 that way.

I like the drive up thru Kittredge and Idledale once in a great while; especially when trees are leafing and creeks cascading under deep azure blue skies with a warm sunny day. I have to count that as "our" weekend outing as I don't plan to be out with the masses the next few days: I have a guest room to paint this weekend and some major landscaping to do. :coffee screen:

While the dogs were in the yard for a bit, I checked the volume of traffic on 285. There is none which normally exists this time of day at the beginnig of a long holiday weekend. :yikes: Actually, the traffic looks very light right now. Don't know if it will pick up later or not.

Around 2:00 we went to Evergreen, then to Idaho Springs via Mount Evans. Traffic was normal. At Idaho Springs we pulled onto I 35 and on to Loveland pass. Traffic was heavy but never slower than 45 mph. No traffic to speak of until Fairplay, then 285 southbound was bumper to bumper. None to speak of northbound.

Think about it, if you're only going one direction on I-70, then I-35 makes sense...half of 70 is 35. :)
