well, except for the part about the political forum rules applying everywhere - i like that it's ok to throw sand there, and i don't like encountering thrown sand elsewhere. well, not really really big fist fulls, anyway. at least stacks didn't post rebuses. i hate rebuses. and they load slow.

Here is something I worked on when I was on a Steering Committee for another site. This is a site that is 7X larger than PC, International and only 2 years old. A lot of different opinions come up, and people enjoy the site because it is controlled and it isn't a county dump like many other Internet site where anything goes. Somethng the PC Mod's might find interesting to review

Moderator Code of Ethics

To all PINECAM moderators:
It has always been clear that the success of the Pinecam and its associated web site, forum, and community depends on a well-functioning moderator team. The effectiveness of the moderators has a direct impact on how smoothly the club runs, and how well we are able to maintain peace and harmony in the community that we have forged.

What follows constitutes the "Moderator Code of Ethics" which has been drafted to ensure moderators and administrators act fairly, without bias and in the best interest of the site and its members. As an active or prospective administrator or moderator, you agree to abide by this code of ethic.

A. Each moderator will do their best to answer questions in the forums to which I have been assigned. They will try to direct members to existing topics when they exist or help them with their research.

B. To help correct image or URL posting. Moderators will leave a note regarding the modification at the bottom of author's post.

C. Move threads to appropriate forum sections as required. If unable to move due to moderator access rights, start a new thread in the moderator section and request assistance. The request for assistance should include a link to the thread in question.

D. Review the Terms of Service / Code of Conduct and help enforce it. Moderators will be very careful to NOT commit a ToS violation.

E. Move questionable threads to the Problem Thread forum for discussion or evaluation. When a thread is moved send a PM to the thread starter that his thread is under review. Once the thread is moved post a reason why the thread was reviewed so other moderators can examine and comment. Moderators will read all threads moved into the problem section and will post comment(s) regarding possible infractions. These comments will be in the following format:
"Read, no comment."
"Read, agree."
"Read, agree, w/comments" Then moderator shall insert any additional comments he may have.
"Read, disagree." Then moderator must insert comments as to why they disagree.

F. Will not be biased in my opinion of certain modifications, products, or brand names in my posting. I will offer my advice and experiences, but leave the discussion open for opposing points of view.

G. Work with fellow moderators, global moderators, and administrators to provide the best Pinecam discussion experience possible. Any site/club concerns will ONLY be brought up in the Moderators Forum.

H. I will read and stay current with all threads in the moderator section of the forum.

I. Keep all communication with members, sponsors & partners confidential unless they have given you permission to make this information public knowledge. This includes but is not limited to emails, private messages, or conversations of any type that were held in confidence.

J. Any forum board within the moderator category shall be treated as private discussion and any information contained therein shall not be published outside the moderator category without the consent of the administrators.

K. Keep site business strictly confidential, as it directly impacts the club's finances and viability as the premier source of Pinecam information.

My dear, Blue;

By The Grace Of The Almighty Wayne, I am the Site Administrator and no longer a Moderator, and I'm pretty sure you know that. So that said, I'm hoping you'll accept this post as a personal reply and not one influenced by virtue of being a member of The Mod Squad...

With all due respect, Blue ... and I do mean that, I respect you a lot; Pinecam is on its 11th year of existance. I have to say that the items you submitted (A-K) are, in my opinion, already sensibly observed and enforced here. And, I really think you know that ... you've been on the inside, and you know the machinations they have to go through, and in raw form.

I admit, the day-to-day struggle is not a pretty picture. How in the world do you read and interpret the intent and emotions of 1,700 individual posters on a daily basis, moderate the flow and topic of a thread or even guess at bridging the gap of sensibilities between Poster A and Poster Z?

But, man, I have to say, it's actually gratifying to see the enthusiasm, dedication, and sensitivity of our Moderator team. That they have been able to develop in a virtual vacuum and by the seat-of-their-pants, a set of guidelines identical to that of the 10,000-member 2-year-old-web site; well, I just have to say ... I guess we chose our Mods well.

As some of you have already stated, moderating a forum is not an easy task. It takes a lot of work from an unpaid, dedicated, oft-maligned and volunteer work-force to make it happen. Guess what? We have one. And if you want a better one ... guess what? You've got nowhere's to go.

So, Blue, would it be unreasonable to ask you to fill in the blanks on items L-Z? Surely, a two-year-old website with that many registered members must have made it that far by now.

[Yes, I'm being facetious, Blue ... sorry. But, as TillerBee said some time ago, Mods are people, too. I think we sometimes overlook that fact.]

Glad I could put up such a good post for my first time! And we all open to our opionion. Personally I liked Hastacks responses on most issues. Some of them really made me laugh!
If we do not post very often, I guess that make us "Lurkers" it is not that we "lurk" it is that we like the the opions of others and that maybe and nothing more needs to be added.
As far as the mods. go, I am not sure sure about them, So I fell the rules should apply there as well.
Thank You all for such a well respose! Please add more!

It is possible the Mod's might want a short little rule book that they look to when trying to figure out how to handle a situation or the expecations of being a Mod.

I thought this information might be good food for thought and maybe the public had some additional ideas :)

Thanks, Blue ... I expected your intentions were good. So, what about L-Z?

I have read and re-read some of the post to where is Haystacks. I must say from my humble opinion that I can not see what the heck everyone is going so nuts over. I myself had a post that was pulled for a few days, only to ask about scheduling problems with a certain dentist. I thought that was silly, not being offensive, just simply asking a question. Why is it that there are those of us out here in computer land that seem to think that we are better, more intelligent, who have more of a valuable opinion then others? Should we all be the same, go with the flow, never to ask or disrupt the natural flow of posting? Diversity is fabulous. We do not have to agree with each other, that is what makes us all individuals. I have not found anyone on this site who is better than the next, I have found some that believe they are somehow masters of this posting universe. People should be allowed to voice their own opinions, whether they are not the POPULAR views of the small groups who enjoy making someone their whipping boy or girl. Come on people, let's all get our panties out of this big wad and move on and be nice.

I was just wondering if HondaXR reviving my 17 year old thread was a record - I guess not!
Since this person only has had one post since 2006 before these two I wonder what woke up he/she?
