The same is true for the cotton tote . . . everyone out there knows how environmentally damaging the cotton industry, with all of its insecticides, weed killers, fertilizers, etc. is to the environment, right? Not to mention the resource intense textile industry in general, particularly with regards to water. Bleaches, dyes, energy consumption in the form of growing, harvesting, processing raw materials, production, transportation of product to market, regular (after each use) cleaning of the totes (which are likely stored in a plastic container of some sort to keep them clean in your vehicle before they are next used). There's a LOT of energy and chemical use associated with cotton totes . . . and if the tote is made of a cotton blend, why, there's plastic (polyester) in those too.

No one is going to take a previously used, unwashed, cloth tote that's been hanging out in the cargo area of their vehicle for days/weeks and bring that into the store, with who knows what kind of contamination on it, wheel it around the store in a cart, and then put their (mostly plastic and paper) food containers (that will only be used once before finding their way into a landfill) into the contaminated bags, before putting those (mostly plastic and paper) food containers (that will only be used once before finding their way into a landfill) into their cupboards and pantries where they can contaminate everything stored there . . . right? Surely, especially after the pandemic, we're all more conscious about hygiene than that . . .

Yeah, I'm not a big fan of empty virtue signaling . . . can you tell?

Boxes with handles: Well folks be picky when selecting boxes at Costco. Just by chance I got some great ones with handle holes. Also who wants a huge bag to carry a heavy load of groceries? Dig around in your closet or go to the ARC and get some old shirts, sheets what ever and make your own bags to the size you want. Opps gave away something I could do to make some money to pay for those $5+ dozen eggs. Real reason I am not thrilled about no more free plastic bags - now I have to pay for trash bags.... As for paper bags, they will make great fire started when there are no longer newspapers. But still I won't pay for them.
