He was 81. Terrible week for losing iconic music makers. :(

The harmonies heard in both his tenure with the Byrds and CSN(Y) are something I will never, ever forget. Southern Cross is still one of my all time favorites. Not one of my all time CSN favorites, one of my all time favorites.

I spent yesterday evening listening to songs by/with Crosby. What a wonderful artist he was.

It's hard to pick a favorite song of his. But if I was forced to then I'd pick Guinnevere. So lovely.

Do you have a favorite David Crosby song?

Agree, difficult to find a favorite.
David said, of Guinnevere:

“ In a Rolling Stone interview, Crosby remarked: "That is a very unusual song, it's in a very strange tuning (EBDGAD) with strange time signatures. It's about three women that I loved. One of whom was Christine Hinton - the girl who got killed who was my girlfriend - and one of whom was Joni Mitchell, and the other one is somebody that I can't tell. It might be my best song."

Crosby was a prolific songwriter and that voice. It touched your heart and soul .
Disregard him being born into the affluent LA / Hollywood film world - his father was a major award winning cinematographer.
Both parents were descendants of two very prominent NY families as well.
So Crosby always had a bit of eclectic attitude in him as well as rebelling against that society.

I met Crosby in Sonoma CA bout 20 years ago. ( I work in 'the biz') He was a bit zonked out from his Meds or who knows what else
So it was a bizarre conversation as he stared right thru me and then off into the space.
Still it was great meeting someone whom I have nearly idolized since the 60s.
His music marked key points in the soundtrack of my life.
And while I knew - we all knew - this day would come for him, it is sad to lose such an epic songwriter.
He was still writing and recording up to that day.

Strange thing...I was listening to tracks by him and Graham Nash on Weds evening while sitting in front of the fire in a cabin at the edge of RMNP.
Not the music I normally listen to there in the high peaks.
But for some strange reason it was working its magic that nite. Why ? The next day i found out : It was the exact hour that he passed.
Whistlin Down the Wire was the album in play.
'Dancer' and 'Time after Time' on repeat.

Photo is from the first show of their CSN reunion tour in 2010.
I was stage left as David and Graham performed Guinnevere, this pic is that iconic moment.

Wow! Lucky for you to have met him.

I never even got to hear him or any of CSN in a live performance.
But their music, oh the music, has many memories attached to it.

You said it beautifully,

Oh man. My first concert. Mile High Stadium, early 's70s. CSNY, Beach Boys and Jesse Colin Young. What a day it was. David's music is timeless.
