“Frozen Dead Guy Days (FDGD), the quirky festival that commemorates the time a cryogenically frozen body was discovered in a Nederland shed, will be kicking off its 20th annual return to Colorado in its new home of Estes Park later this year. Early tickets for the event are on sale… at $29 plus a service fee.
Festival goers should expect classic FDGD activities like the coffin races and human foosball to return. New this year, FDGD will also be hosting a 'dead man' fashion show, roaming freak show acts, and a 'Bands and Bloodys' Sunday Brunch. “ https://www.outtherecolorado.com/news/t ... -174598374 This might catch on with newer people to the state, but I’m sad to see this. _________________ The life you’ve led doesn’t have to be the only life you live. |

What a shame. It was great and unique for a very small town that I suppose just couldn't handle its popularity anymore. I imagine it was the biggest economic boost for the year in Nederland. I wish they just appropriately let it die. Now it will be just another music show with $34.68 tickets for all age THREE and up. Heck, there may not even be any snow in March in Estes.

There never was a fee before. More commercialization. Unless Estes has its own frozen dead guy, it has no significance. I wonder if they had to pay for the name? Doubtful anybody earlier thought to trademark it or incorporate it.
I don't understand why they advertise that it has "returned" to Colorado. Returned from where? Has he been on tour outside of the state? Agreed, it's sad when such an innocent, small town activity becomes yet another lure to bring in swarms of people just spend money. No tradition. No meaning. I feel bad for old Estes Park residents. I'm sure I wouldn't recognize the town anymore. _________________ The life you’ve led doesn’t have to be the only life you live. |

Sad. But apparently Nederland had something to do with the festival's demise: https://www.westword.com/arts/frozen-de ... o-15696843
It got too expensive to run the show with all the rules and fees that the town and county imposed from the cited article. _________________ A mind, once stretched by a new idea, never regains its original dimensions. |
