Drivers on 285, thank you for your patience. We worked with Inter-Canyon Fire Protection District and West Metro Fire Rescue to extricate two patients from this accident on Hwy 285 near mile marker 246. Colorado State Patrol, Jefferson County Sheriff's Office, Morrison PD and Colorado Department of Transportation helped in closing the highway and helping keep firefighters safe during this complex rescue.

Yeah -I got stuck in this for about an hour before SP got us turned around and drove south in the north bound lane. Didn't have my phone with me so couldn't post warning to Pinecam.

It looks like an amazing rescue operation. It's to the point now I wish they wouldn't let these commercial trucks run through that canyon! There's just too many drivers that do not now how to drive mountain roads. Hopefully the lessons learned here didn't involve death or serious injury.

There are tender photos on FB from people immediately on scene assisting the driver and passenger. People kept them calm and assisted in keeping more glass and engine fluids from covering them until professional help arrived. They are hospitalized with non life threatening injuries.

Other posts indicate it was very windy in the canyon. To me, it appears the trailer was empty.

Our first responders up here are exceptional! It is sometimes dangerous to their lives or sickening what they have to face at the same time as reassuring the victims. They have to wear many hats.

There are places along highways where we semis have a specific speed limit for them, often 15mph lower than normal. We need more of those and strong enforcement of them. I know it is easier said than done. Maybe multiple cameras which clock speed limits and hit the drivers hard with hefty fines, many points that threaten them keeping their licenses, and also fine the companies that employ them.
