Way back in the early 90s, before 285 was widened to 4 lanes between Foxton Rd and Kings Valley, I was sent to a call of a car vs elk in that area. When I got on scene I found a severely injured bull elk and an Isuzu Trooper (one of the old, boxy type) with a crushed roof. The bull had either fallen or jumped from an embankment and one of his hoofs penetrated the roof of the Trooper apparently trapping it on the roof. The crushed roof caused the driver to run off the road and collide with a tree. The bull was then thrown from the top of the vehicle.

I had to euthanize the elk. Both people in the Trooper suffered some pretty serious injuries even though they were non-life threatening.
