:yikes: Oh my! Those damn Kaiser doctors prescribing too much pain medication again and again. Doesn't matter if it is over the counter or prescription, pain meds are dangerous.

Yes, most of us should know by now that too much Tylenol causes kidney and liver damage that can result in death.

I am sooooooooo glad you are okay now Mummydog!! :applause: :praying:
But what an ordeal. I'm so sorry you had this experience.

Listen up people, this is yet another horror story about Kaiser. Incompetence is their standard MO.

And I bet that same Kaiser doc is still there continuing to do stupid stuff that is causing life threatening situations to others.

I have been in the KP medicare advantage plan for 5 years, during that time I have experienced excellent medical care at their facilities for stroke, hip replacement, a broken wrist and a hole in my heart. So, like all things in life your experience and mine are different. With KP dropping the people of Park county it leaves me no choice except Humana if I want a Medicare advantage policy, as the other plan originally mention was merged with United Health Care a couple of years ago. UHC and all the other insurance companies you see with ads on TV don't offer Advantage policies to the people of Park. My monthly premium will increase from $47 a month to $127 a month plus I will have to find new doctors who will accept my new insurance if I go to Humana.

Health care is not the problem but the insurance companies who dictate where and how we get care.

SO true for now! But without competition, the quality of healthcare will slide down to unacceptable level. The "system" is broken and I sure hope some smart people can figure out some solutions soon.

I'm happy that you have had good experiences with Kaiser. You are one of the lucky ones.

Finding healthcare "up here" that accept medicare and are taking on new patients is really, really challenging.

I lucked out and got an open slot with an awesome PA at Conifer Medical. Super smart and super nice! Like winning the lotto!!
But before her, I was forced to go down the hill for a primary care physician. But still all my specialists are in the Denver metro area. There's no getting around that.

Email I received from Medicare.gov 10-23. Copy & paste changed format but it is verbatim:

Make sure you have the coverage you want for 2020
GARANCE,
As of January 1, 2020, your Medicare Advantage Plan, likely, will no longer offer coverage in your area. Your plan issuer should already have let you know. Please look for this important notice from your plan.
Pick a new plan by December 31, 2019. If you don't, you'll only be covered by Original Medicare (Part A and Part B) starting January 1, 2020.
Use Medicare's Plan Finder to easily compare the 6 Medicare Advantage Plans available in your area (80421).
Find a Plan
Your coverage start date will depend on when you enroll in the new plan:
• If you enroll in a new plan by December 31, 2019, your new plan coverage will start January 1, 2020.
• If you enroll in a new plan after December 31, 2019 and by February 29, 2020, your new coverage will generally start on the first day of the month after you enrolled.
Note: If you don't join a plan with drug coverage by the February 29, 2019 deadline, you won't have Medicare drug coverage in 2020 — and you may have to pay a lifetime Part D late enrollment penalty if you join a Medicare prescription drug plan later.
Sincerely,
The Medicare Team

We met with Amanda Matthews, owner of Integrity Insurance, who was also planning to be at the Tuesday meeting at the library. She was very helpful and tuned in to what we might be comfortable with going forward after Kaiser.

That's to bad but is the cost of doing business as there is not enough subscribers in those counties. They even closed the one in Evergreen awhile back. I have had Kaiser for 30 years and they have always covered my bills in and out of my service area. I am going with their Medicare advantage plan in January as they will pay 125 back each month for my part b Medicare!

Join AARP and apply for the Medicare supplement, which is United Health Care Providers. I am a broker, and find this a good buy. IT IS NOT an HMO … Try this link, may or may not work. I plugged in Bailey Zip Code.
